Pregnancy Test

We offer free and confidential pregnancy tests as well as information about options and community referrals.
Signs of pregnancy vary from woman to woman, and even from pregnancy to pregnancy.

You may experience some, all or none of these symptoms:

  • missing a period
  • a period with less bleeding or fewer days than usual
  • swelling, tenderness or tingling in your breasts
  • frequent urination
  • fatigue
  • nausea or vomiting
  • feeling bloated or crampy
  • increased or decreased appetite
  • changes in digestion (constipation or heartburn)
  • mood changes
  • weight gain or loss

Most urine pregnancy tests, like the one used at Pee Dee Pregnancy Resource Center, are sensitive enough to detect the hormone that is produced during the early stages of pregnancy approximately 7-10 days after conception.

Our center provides free urine pregnancy tests using the self-test model and you will receive your results during your appointment. The results provided are not intended to diagnose any condition or pregnancy and should not take the place of your medical practitioner.

Abortion Information

A positive pregnancy test can leave you feeling overwhelmed and afraid. Deciding what to do next can seem impossible when you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders. At PD Pregnancy Resource Center, you won’t find anyone judging you or telling you what to decide. Our only goal is to educate you about your choices. You have a right to accurate information before taking the next step in your plan of action. We want to support you each step of the way.

RU486 (aka the ‘Abortion Pill’) is a combination of two synthetic drugs (Mifepristone and Misoprostol) that work together to cause an early abortion. Mifepristone, the pill taken on day 1, blocks a hormone necessary to sustain pregnancy after the egg has been fertilized. Misoprostol, taken on day 3, causes the uterus to contract and expel the embryo.
Side Effects:
• Painful uterine contractions (cramping)
• Nausea
• Vomiting and diarrhea
• Heavy bleeding that can last 8-10 days
• Fever
An RU486 induced abortion takes 2 weeks: 3 days to administer the medications and a follow up on day 14 to confirm whether or not the abortion has been completed. If it has not, there could be birth defects and possible surgery.
RU486 should not be used if it has been more than 7 weeks since your last menstrual period (or about 5 weeks since conception).

Manual Vacuum Aspiration
This method is used 3-12 weeks after conception. Local anesthesia is used on the cervix and it is dilated. A hollow tube with a knife-edged tip is inserted into the womb. The tube is then connected to a vacuum suction. The fetus and placenta are then sucked through the tube and discarded.

Dilation and Evacuation
Dilation and Evacuation (aka ‘D&E’) is used in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy (past 16 weeks). This is a 2-step procedure. First, the cervix is enlarged with Laminaria (a type of seaweed) and surgical instruments facilitate dilation and labor. In the second step, a local anesthetic (or general anesthesia) is used and the physician removes the fetus with forceps and vacuum aspiration.
At 16 weeks the baby’s sex is apparent, the baby’s skeleton is developing bones and the baby’s movements are becoming coordinated.

Educate yourself and make sure you are completely informed before making a decision that will affect all lives involved.
Call or come by our center to discuss your options. We are here for you! We do not refer or provide for abortion services.

Earn While You Learn

Overwhelming questions face many parents experiencing an unexpected pregnancy…

• How will I give my baby what he/she needs? (food, clothing, diapers)
• How will I be able to provide my baby with a car seat, stroller, pack-n-play?
• How will I know how to take care of my baby?
• How will I be able to provide a good future for me and my baby?

Our Earn While You Learn program meets all of these needs.
We do this by offering an educational curriculum where participants learn essential things about pregnancy and parenting through sessions of video driven lessons. Upon completing each session, each parent will have the opportunity to earn “Baby Bucks” to spend in our Baby Boutique!

Discipleship Classes

At PD Pregnancy Resource Center, we believe a relationship with Jesus Christ fills the hole many of us sense deep inside our souls. As believers, we greatly desire to help you grow in a relationship with Him. Our discipleship classes will be on a voluntary basis and are never mandatory to receive services.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

-Romans 5:8

PDPRC staff and volunteers will meet you exactly where you are in a non-judgmental way to study the Bible. Each session taken will also allow you to earn Baby Bucks to spend in our Baby Boutique.

Post-Abortion Recovery

Do you feel like no one else would understand?
Are you weighed down with feelings of grief that you can’t express?
Are you exhausted from carrying the secret?

Statistics state that 1 in 3 women have had at least one abortion in their lifetime. While the numbers and legalities are public knowledge, the emotional scars and lifelong regret are not. But there is hope, because there is a Healer…

“He has been sent to heal the brokenhearted… comfort those who mourn… give them beauty for ashes… a garment of praise for their spirit of heaviness” -
Isaiah 61:1-3

Let us walk with you through “Forgiven and Set Free”, a post-abortion Bible study for women written by Linda Cochrane. If you need a safe place to talk to someone who knows what you are going through, please call 910-997-3040 to make plans to come by our center.

Abstinence Education

We believe that every human being is valuable in God’s eyes. Therefore, it is important to us to confirm the Biblical standard for sexual relationships through the sanctity of marriage and abstinence education. Our center provides this through a 4-week video series by Pam Stenzel called “Love Lessons”.

We also have personal testimonies from our trained peer advocates that give clear evidence of Jesus’ grace and restoration – no matter where you are or where you may have been.

Call us for more information on this topic.
Youth Directors: please call and see how we can help you use “Love Lessons” with your youth group.
